Apple iPhone 8 & 8 Plus Review

So what has Apple given us extra in this new upgraded models?

The new Apple iPhone 8 comes in three colours Gold, Silver and Space Grey. The device is available in 32GB, 256GB and 512GB options as well.

iPhone 8 is built with the most durable glass ever used in a smartphone. The phone has a 4.7-inch LCD Multi-Touch display with IPS technology and a pixel resolution of 1334-by-750- at 326 ppi.

It also has a Fingerprint sensor built into the Home button.

The battery of the iPhone 8 will last about the same as that in the iPhone 7. It had wireless charging and can be charged up to 50 per cent in just 30 minutes. This is a great improvement as iPhones tended t have a bad reputation on the quality and performance of their batteries.

The new iPhone has new Stereo Speakers and a powerful A11 Bionic chip. The A11 Bionic chip is 70 per cent faster than A 10 chip used on iPhone 7.

The phone also sports a dual-camera. f/1.8 and f/2.8 apertures and a 12MP camera with deeper pixels and a new colour filter. There is also a designed video encoder on the iPhone 8. You can also capture slow motion videos at 1080HD at 240 fps.

So there is a lot on offer and they have taken into account customer request for improvements

Main shortcomings

  • Poor screen-to-body ratio (too much bezel for the size)
  • No 3.5mm audio jack (ships with a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter)
  • No microSD slot
  • iTunes is still required for manual music upload
  • Video camera still recording mono audio only

The iPhone 8 is an all-glass design, has a powerful new chip, and an improved camera and wireless charging. The True Tone support for the display is also a good feature. The doubled base storage and Bluetooth 5 support are a plus.

Futureproof. Not crazy about the glass but necessary for charging. If Apple went for an infinity type display, could they be sued by Samsung?

How is kindle on SE? isn't the screen too small for read? i use a lot of kindle on my 5" Lumia but been long thinking to get iOS and looking into SE, not sure if 8th is worth it, and it's all glass, so less durable I guess. What you got to say? ;)
